It seems that, over the past several years, new concours have been popping up all over the place. Some go on to become world-class events, and others last just a year or two. The Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance has been going strong since 1967. From its humble beginnings in the parking lot of a local shopping center, the concours now resides at Stanford University. The concours is the annual fundraising event of the Palo Alto Host Lions Club and, since 1967, has raised nearly $1.5 million dollars for over 50 local charities. Like many concours, each year features a chosen marque. For 2011, BMW was chosen as the European marque and the Ford flatheads from 1903-1953 for the American marque. Below are the 2011 winners. Cars are judged using SCCA rules with the exception of the Ferraris that are judged with Ferrari club rules. Some smaller classes had limited entries or did not meet the minimum number of points for a first or second place.
